Thanksgiving 2012

We typically spend Thanksgiving afternoon with Brent's family, and I know they enjoy seeing Jackson.  He's is the youngest of his generation, and not a lot of little kids his size/age to play with.  Luckily, Matt was here to play!  (This is Whitney's boyfriend Matt).

Bobby and Cilla have a really lovely house and big back yard, and someone loved playing on the swing set.

Some of the other "kids" loved playing on it as well.  ha!

Aww - love me some Matt and Whitney.  I'm also very glad they are closer. Not that I don't love NYC, but St. Louis is a much easier drive which means she's more more often!

Family picture.  Two bad my boys don't know how to pose yet.

This is Brent's cousin Natalie and her husband Rich - always fun to sit at the table with them cause they are hilarious.

Here's Jackson's cousin Natalie.  She comes right before him and Caitlin in the line-up of Granny's great-grandkids.  She wanted to hold him a lot, and for some reason he let her.  Not sure he was thrilled about it though.

More swinging...

This boy loves a slide!

This is Brent's Aunt Maria, Aunt Connie, and Priscilla.  They were representing the blue colors on Thanksgiving, so we had to take a picture. All that's missing here is Dianne.

These are Connie's grandkids (except for the one at the bottom on the left).  That's Wyn and Maria's great-granddaughter, Malia.

Jackson did really good during lunch and had fun exploring Cilla's house.  He even was brave and even ventured into a room by himself, which we had to go get him because they're house is kid friendly but not necessarily toddler proof.

The rest of the day, I finished putting up my outside decorations (it was about 70 degrees that day), and we just hung around and watched TV.  On Friday morning, we loaded up and headed to Sheridan to see Ma, Aunt Kay, Uncle Sluggo, Uncle Scott, Aunt Snooks, and Beth Anne.  I hadn't been to Ma's new apartment yet and it was really nice.  It took a while to get warmed up, but Jackson played hard with Uncle Sluggo.  They did lots of wrestling!

Around 3, we got in the car and headed south to Mimi and Pop's house.  It was a fun Thanksgiving at home with them and Aunt Sarah and Uncle Josh, but my grandmother (Nannie) took a turn for the worse and ended up in the hospital.  We managed to have a lovely steak dinner on Saturday night though.

This was Saturday morning, and it's just something about being away from home that makes you want to shovel in the food.  This one here is picky, but when he's there, he really likes to eat.

On Saturday morning, Dad, Josh, and Brent got up super early and headed to the deer woods.  Brent expressed a desire to go a couple of months ago, and let me tell you, my daddy was THRILLED.  While he was growing up, he never had anyone to take him hunting, so I think they all had a great time.  He even killed his first deer!  I didn't mention to him what they do to you when you do kill your first deer.  Ha!

(Sorry for the graphic nature, but you can see they're happy).  I've got to learn how to cook the meat the way my grandmother did.

While they were out going hunting, mom and Sarah had to go to the hospital with Nannie, and I got to stay home with this little guy.  He had lots of different (and old) toys to play with.  Because everybody was gone, Jackson kept walking around looking for Pops and Mimi.

And then after Pops got home, it was time to wrestle!  (Or wrastle as we say).

Sarah and Josh left after dinner on Saturday night, and we stayed for church on Sunday morning.  That's part of the fun is seeing old friends at FBC McGehee.

Here's Pops reading to Jackson.  Can't you see they're big buddies?

It was tough working a full week after being gone for five days, but I did enjoy the time away.  Now it's full speed to Christmas and lots of stuff to look forward to:  parties, Gamma's coming, more parties, Christmas, and more vacation time!
