Last Days of Summer

In July, it was perfect weather - high 70s and low 80s.  But now that it's September, it's hot and humid.  We've had triple digits for the past two weeks and I am officially done with summer.  I'm ready to play outside and not sweat and get heat exhaustion.  I'm ready for fall.  But since it's still hot and the pool has a hole in it, we'll finish out the summer with a few more runs through the sprinkler.  That's what he loves to do anyway.

Love this one.  I did edit it some, but it's mostly my handiwork.

I won't lie, the past couple of weeks have been rough, although I have seen a little light at the end of the tunnel.  This little guy has been throwing some bad fits in the afternoons when we get home and will swat at me, which gets him into even more trouble.  This time he was in trouble before we even got home, and I think he knew it.  Bless him - he's just like me.  Got that Norris temper and a strong will.  It will come in handy one day, but for now, it must be squashed.

Two Friday nights ago, we met my family at Copeland's to celebrate my grandmother's birthday.  Ma is exactly 50 years older than me, so if you know how old I'll be in October, then you'll know how old she is today.  Sar-Sar and Josh were there, and of course Mimi and Pops.  Jackson did really well at the restaurant, but we did have to pull out the iphone app towards the end.

What a role model she is for us!  She loves Jesus and is a great witness for Him.  She moved last year from her home of 60 years, and I swear she has gotten younger since that move.  She enjoys her church and loves being closer to family.  We're so blessed to have her!

When it was time to leave, he gave Ma a kiss and said "I go Mimi's house."  So of course he got to go to Mimi and Pops' house in Bryant.  We picked him up in NLR the next morning though because they were on their way to dove hunt in Wynne.

The next weekend, we had our friends, The Harrisons over for supper.  They have two boys, Brandt and Rhett.  Brandt and Jackson are a month apart and are in the same Sunday School class.  Of course with two toddlers, we spent most of our time refereeing, but I know one day they'll be playing together nicely (I hope).  Rhett just turned one, so he was exploring all over the place without caring with the other two were doing.  Finally I turned on Cars so the adults could finish a sentence and we could visit.  (It was a play date for us too).  ha!  Can't wait to have them back over to hang out.
