iPhone Photo Dump

These are some pictures from my phone from the past few months.  We are having the best time with our little man - he's learning and doing new things every day that keep us on our toes.  And I must give a shout-out to the iPhone camera that can flip around - that's helped in getting so many great smiles. 

Fun Weekend at Mimi and Pops House

Dad finally felt good enough to have us come down for the weekend, and we were all excited to see Mimi and Pops.  As Jackson gets older, he's a little easier to travel with - not as much stuff to take and the car ride is fine as long as we have snacks and videos to watch.  We got home on Friday evening and it took a little while for J to get acclimated to his new surroundings.  He was very shy with dad, which was surprising.  He knows them and has even started saying "mimi" and we might have heard a "pop" by Sunday afternoon. 

This is what my childhood looked like!  It was fun playing with mine and Sarah's old toys all weekend, and Jackson really enjoyed the poppers.  

Jackson finally warmed up to Pops after bath time Friday night.  

On Saturday morning, we went to Nannie's house to see her and our cousins, Chris, Shannon, Kayla, and Landon. We got to see them back in May when we went to Springfield, so again Jackson enjoyed being the center of attention.  

He really thought he was big stuff here. 

After a messed up nap schedule, we needed to get out of the house but it was too hot to go outside.  So we all went to the Family Life Center at the church.  Dad walked while Brent shot some hoops.  Me and Mom chased Jackson around and threw the ball to him.  If only he was wearing his Heat jersey!  

Saturday night we were all pretty tired, and we had the cousins back over to play some more.  J didn't go to bed until around 9 p.m., but after his bottle, we ended up watching the Gaithers.  Dad laughed and said that he wasn't going to be like Pa, but here we were on a Saturday night watching a singing program. ha!  (We used to watch Hee Haw every Saturday night at Ma and Pa's house).  

On Sunday, we went to church and saw our friends there.  Jackson was again a little shy acting, but he recognized Pops and went right to him.  We had to have a photo session after church (because before wasn't happening). ha! 

They are big buddies!

4th of July

Brent's mom stayed with us for two weeks, and one thing she wanted to do was go to her family's 4th of July gathering they do every year at Bobby and Priscilla Morris's house.  (We also do fireball here too).  We didn't go last year because Jackson was just a week old and I was barely getting off the couch, but this year was a lot of fun.  We got to eat good stuff and visit and play with our Oxner and Gardner cousins.  

This is Jackson's great-great uncle - that's right 2x great!  Uncle Junior and Brent's grandmother, Granny, were brother and sister.  I tried to think if I ever met any of my great-great aunts or uncles, and I can't remember any.  Uncle Junior is in his mid-80s and is so sweet.  All of Brent's family welcomed me into the family so easily, so I'm very glad to be apart of this group. 

Jackson worked the crowd that's for sure!  He was enjoying all of the attention. 

And Bobby and Cilla have lots of room to run around in, so that was a plus.

Monkey Got Married!

On Saturday, June 30th, our dear sweet friend Monkey got married!  We had originally planned to make a family affair and spend Saturday night, but with my parents not going and me still on crutches, we had to just make a day of it.  Gamma was still here so we left Jackson with her to play, and I'm so glad because I really enjoyed our day alone together. Jackson would have been miserable in the car, although it would have been fun to show him off.  

Brent and I got there early to watch them take pictures.  There were lots of other kids around - both sides have several nieces and nephews.  The photographer definitely earned her money!  I sat back and got some snapshots.  

Here's me and the bride! 

Her dress was so pretty and of course the flowers were gorgeous.  (Her mom is a wonderful florist and did my wedding).  Her husband's name is Joshua Legg, so that's right - this is Mrs. Monkey Legg.  He's a very nice guy and I wish we lived closer so we could get to know him a little better. 

Monkey's brother-in-law did the ceremony and he did a great job.  And speaking of the ceremony, it was short and sweet.  A grand total of 15 minutes!  

I also got to see my former roommate Kristi Shirley (now Sharp) and her mom.  We had a good visit at the reception and it really made me miss the old OBU and Turtle Creek apartment days. 

Can't forget J-Lo (John Lowery) - he went to high school with Monkey and then went to OBU with us.  He's a mess, and it was a lot of fun to catch up.  

The reception was very nice, and the food was great.  She had yummy cakes and a fun candy bar too. The only bad thing was the weather.  That week the average temps were about 105, and my dress was not cotton.  I was sweating like crazy, which I was also wearing the walking boot so that didn't help either.  

12 Months Photo Shoot and a Look Back

Jackson's actually birthday fell during the week I went back to work, so we tried that evening after bath time to take some shots, but he was NOT having it.  Gamma was still here with us and she tried to get him to cooperate, but it just wasn't happening.  

So we waited until Saturday morning (June 30th) when he was in a better mood.  I was sad to realize that there aren't any more stickers.  It truly blows my mind to think about how fast this year has gone by.  It seemed like the first five went by so slowly, but once he started sitting up, it flew by.  

As you can see, he's officially bigger than the teddy bear.  

We often wonder what he's thinking about.  I can only imagine!  I think he's plotting his exit strategy. 

He's got a big personality already!
