Picture of Caitlin

Here's a picture of our new niece Caitlin. She and Kelly (Brent's sister) are home from the hospital and are doing great. They say she's sleeping really well for a premie.

First Wedding Shower

On Sunday afternoon, my bridesmaids threw me my first wedding shower, and it was a so much fun. It was at Lindsey's house, who is a wonderful hostess, and I enjoyed seeing everybody there. I would like to say a big THANKS to Lindsey, Terri, Kristen, Kristi, Lisa, Monkey and my sister Sarah for all of their planning and hostessing during the shower. It was a fabulous time visiting with everybody who came.

I got some good stuff, but since this weekend was also moving weekend, it's all in the spare room for now. As for the big move, it went very smoothly thanks to the help of Mom, Dad, Sarah and Josh. (At least we didn't move to a 3rd floor apartment!)It was fun to have my family at my new house and I can see many more family activities taking place in Cabalot.

Philadelphia

While we felt much safer in NYC, Philly wasn't that bad. The historical sites were neat, but I can say that I probably wouldn't go back anytime soon. It was a lot dirtier, and the people were not acting like they were from "The City of Brotherly Love." One thing I did enjoy was the fall leaves, even though it was mid 70s the entire time we were there.

New York City

We had a great time in NYC, and saw so much stuff. I would go back in a heartbeat and visit the museums and the northern part of Manhattan. The city was very clean and while most people were in their own world, we didn't encounter any unfriendly people.
Here's a list of things we saw:
-Chinatown
-NY Harbor/Statue of Liberty (from a distance)
-World Trade Center area
-Wall Street
-Trinity Church
-Empire State Building
-Macy's
-NY Library
-Rockefeller Center/Ice Rink/Top of the Rock
-NBC Studios/Radio City Music Hall
-Central Park/Chrysler Building/Empire State Building (from the Top of the Rock)
-St. Patrick's Cathedral
-Trump Tower
-The Apple Store
-FAO Schwartz
-Times Square/Broadway

Back from the East Coast

We had a great time, and I am going to post some pictures shortly. We spent all day yesterday on the Tour of Airports and got home late, which doesn't help for trying to get back into the routine for today. So if I can get laundry done, then I can work on the pictures.
But here's a little teaser....

Philadelphia/New York City...Here We Come!

Brent, Jeff and I are leaving this afternoon to spend the 3 days in Philadelphia, with one of those days in New York City. This is the first time I have ever been to this part of the country, and I am very excited about it. The real reason for the trip is for me to attend the Public Relations Society of America International Conference, which should be interesting as well.
I'm praying that we will make it there safe today and will have a great time without incident. We get back late Tuesday afternoon, and hopefully I'll have some great pictures to post!

Pray for Santos

When I was in Honduras this past January, there was a young man named Santos who came to our clinic. He had been in an accident and lost both arms below the elbow. The caring medical professionals looked at his situation and decided to pull out all the stops and try to get him arm prosthetics. His family is very very poor and there is no way they could ever afford the various doctors and therapists, not to mention the actual devices. Many people have donated their talents, time and money for Santos to get his prosthetics, but now that they are ready to be fitted, he has refused them. He thought he was getting prosthetics that looked and worked like real hands, even though the doctors told this was impossible due to the severity of his injury. (The prosthetics that will work best have hooks on them.)He will be missing a chance of a lifetime if he turns them down, and I can't imagine going through life with no arms. Whatever his reasons are, our Honduras team is praying for God to intervene and change his mind, so I am asking my friends to do the same. Satan always rears his ugly head, but he is no match for our Awesome God!
