The Rest of July and Some of August

Someone loves yogurt, but would rather use his hand than a spoon.  We're still working on that.

And in the mornings, when said child wants to wear his Elmo slippers, you say OK.  Because saying OK will keep the meltdown from occurring and he's happy.  So OK....(And yes we did change right before we went into school).

We're starting to potty train!  It helps to have an activity to lure him into the bathroom and to keep him there.

Drawing our fingers.

August 9th was Jackson's end-of-year party at school, and I went to watch him eat cheetos and a cupcake.  Except when I got there, he was ready to go.

Ms. Sabrina's in the back.

Here's his friend Maddy - they've been in the same room together since 8 weeks.  She was really enjoying her cupcake.

No-no was enjoying his cheetos.

Jackson and Chelsea (Ms. Carla's in the back).

After the party, he went back to work with me for a little while.  He did really good at being friendly with my co-workers, and he even did a little drawing himself.

I think this was the weekend before, but we love hanging out with friends on the weekend! He plays really well with older kids, and it's so nice for him to go play and us not worry about him putting things in his mouth or getting into the electrical sockets.

My sweet boy before church.  He wasn't interested in taking a picture.

Weekend with Mimi

**I'm trying to play catch-up with the blog, so there will be a few posts over the next few days.**

Back in July, my dad went to Africa.  Actually South Africa, and no it wasn't a mission trip.  He went there to hunt, and it was his treat for getting through a second round of chemo.  It was so fun for him to go do that, but while he was gone, we got to hang out a lot with Mimi.  She came to our house for a few days, then Jackson and I went to McGehee.

Everything tastes better at Mimi's house.  Probably because she's not fixing chicken nuggets and corn dogs, but whatever.

He loves that little rocking chair.  It gets pushed all over the house. I guess he needed to supervise Mimi as she did the dishes.

The next day, we tried to go swimming, but the country club pool had too much chemicals in it.  He loves to swim, but he wasn't interested in the baby pool, so we packed up and went to the playground for a little while.

After nap, he enjoyed some "Frog Spit" or a lime sherbet push up Popsicle.  He's a fan.

Going for a wagon ride in Nannie's old wagon.  We sure do miss her.

Friday night, we went to Hoots BBQ - one of the best BBQ and steak houses in the South.  Seriously - the steak we shared was so amazing.  I can't wait to go back and get another one!  While there, Jackson did really good and he even waved and smiled at everybody.  Just like his Pops!

That night, he got to read some old books with Mimi.

Saturday morning we got up and went to see the Japanese Relocation Museum at the old train station. It's a very interesting topic that not many people know about - including those of us who grew up there!

Obviously Jackson wasn't that interested in being in a museum, so we went back outside and went to see "Thomas".  That's what he calls most trains, and he thought it was pretty cool to climb on top of this caboose.  This thing has been there for as long as I can remember, and I can even remember when trains had cabooses.  They don't anymore - just black boxes.

After lunch and nap, we went to see some old friends.  The Miles Family was in our church growing up, and I have so many memories of us as kids.  So that's why it's so unreal for us to get our kids together and see them playing.  Melissa and Sarah are the same age, and Melissa's kids are older and younger than Jackson.  He had fun swimming in Mrs. Mona's pool and then playing with Everly and Aristyn.

For Jackson's birthday, Mimi got him a little 4-wheeler that stays at their house, and it has Buzz in it!  Except he wanted to get Buzz out and play with him.  (Design flaw).  He quickly figured out how to make it go, but had a hard time steering.

I always want my back yards to look like this.

Sunday morning, we got up and went to big church in McGehee, and Jackson did great (with a little assistance from mommy's iPad).  We always enjoy seeing our extended family at FBC McGehee.

It was a good time, and I always love spending time at my childhood home during the summer.  Things are just more relaxed down there (probably just me), and I always enjoy being out and running into people that I know.

Anyway, we had fun but Daddy missed us and we had to go back home and couldn't wait to see Pops later in the week.  While he was gone, this is what he was up to...this is an impala.  Don't know what he's going to do with it, but he has one.

First Day of School

Monday, August 19, 2013

He started the 2-year old class at CDC, and this was his first day.

They have lessons and activities each day, and I love that he's basically in a 2-K program.  He's learned so much and I can't wait to see what he will learn next!

Family Pictures

We had these pictures made on July 5th, and let me tell you I was praying hard that the two-year old would cooperate.  He was a little overwhelmed at all of the extra people in the house and would not sit next to Gamma or Caitlin.  That being said, I think the ones that Hayley took turned out great.
